DAVE PITCHFORD, this website’s founder, inspiration and all-round spiritual leader, has resigned as its Managing Editor. In his place, I’m taking over as Director, which is the same job with new title.Dave is the reason why this website is here at all. It was his idea, back in 1999, which led to him taking time off work – ditching a career in consulting – to experiment with what he always calls an “online Which?-guide to charities.” Now, it seems, his vision has been realized. Intelligent Giving has been online since November 2006, and we’ve managed to make the world (I think, anyway) a slightly better place. Charities have become more effective as a result of our work; and over 150,000 people have read our charity profiles. It was time for Dave to move on. He’s returned to his previous life, this time working as a digital-media consultant for The Storm Creative, leaving me to take charge here. This is a big change. It’s going to be hard work for us to be without Dave’s inspiring (and often inspired) ideas. Yet all is not lost: he’s staying with Intelligent Giving as a trustee, and we’ve already got some pretty exciting plans for our future. With everyone else in the office, and on the Board, I’m looking forward to implementing them. One thing, however, which I won't miss are his legendary, disgusting lunches. The office will be a sweeter-smelling place without them. Notwithstanding his bizarre midday habits, however, I wish Dave all the best for the future. As usual, I'm sure he'll be an enormous success. Congratulations Dave - good to hear you'll be sticking around via the trustee board. While I'm here - congratulations also to Adam on your promotion. ----------------------------------------------- ... nearly Vlad the Impaler Post new comment |
