| Our advertisers
We receive income from our advertisers - some of which are charities. But we don't let that relationship influence our charity profiles, or any other aspect of our editorial content.
Ads by Google
Most of our advertisements are generated automatically by Google. We have no control over which adverts are shown on what pages under this scheme. That's sometimes annoying for us: on a blog entry recommending against sponsoring charity skydivers, for example, we often see ads which promote such reckless behaviour. However, this goes to demonstrate the fact that we have absolutely no influence over the content of these advertisements
SOS Children's Villages
Intelligent Giving has an agreement with SOS Children’s Villages – a charity we profile - to advertise on our website in exchange for a fee. This arrangement does not differ from any standard advertising contract and was arrived at entirely independently of the Quality of Reporting score we have given to SOS Children’s Villages. The charity’s profiles for 2006 and 2007 were both completed before negotiations with SOS Children’s Villages began, and any evaluations of future reports will not be affected by the agreement.
The way we calculate our Quality of Reporting scores has also been approved as an objective means of assessing transparency by the Charity Commission. For more on how we calculate our scores, click here.
