I'M THE CHAP that’s paid for most of this website’s development (see my bio [0]) so let me explain my motive for doing this, give you a quick tour, and point to people who deserve particular praise.

My motive

I want to find a way of helping people less fortunate than me, but I’ve discovered this isn’t as easy as it sounds, largely because it’s tough to work out which charities to give money to.

By funding Intelligent Giving I hope to:

Encourage other people to give more because they’ll be confident they’re spending their money wisely.
Encourage charities to do a better job of telling the world how they’re spending donors’ money.
Help myself by identifying charities that deserve my money

The quick tour

The most important element of Intelligent Giving is the Charity Chooser [0], which provides a way of identifying and comparing charities in different sectors. This taps into more than 500 detailed profiles of top charities, and a host of other information on another 1,000.
