INNOVATION AIDS CLEARER LISTENING
This is the body that co-ordinates and provides support to the 202 local Samaritan branches - providing, for example, the technology to make sure that suicidal callers don't hear an engaged tone. Its work is largely carried out by an army of over 18,000 volunteers, resulting in what looks like an efficient performance. For the third year in a row, the annual report ticks nearly all of our boxes - but we're left wondering what the future has in store.
