Widows and Orphans International

In their own words

"Our aim is to provide the highest quality service geared towards promoting, protecting and developing the health and training needs of Black and ethnic minorities in the community. Most of our projects in the UK are based in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Our programmes promote the interests of disadvantaged BME groups living in the UK, our main beneficiary target group though not exclusively are refugees, asylum seekers and those affected by HIV/AIDS. We work to promote health, socio-economic and cultural development aiming to address the needs of our beneficiaries proactively through culturally appropriate services, which focus on enhancing human resource development, disease prevention, information exchange and cultural integration."

SIZE OF CHARITY...

What is this?
Small
We only profile the largest charities in England & Wales, and our sizes are relative to the largest and smallest among them. So where we describe a charity as 'Small', it is still much larger than the national average.

HIGHEST SALARY

What is this?
Under £60k
Taken from the vague bandings given in annual reports; note that 'Under £60k' could be £9k or £59k. Nonetheless the number of bars should roughly correlate with the 'Size of charity' bars.

RESERVES WOULD LAST...

What is this?
1 month
If income dried up, how long could work continue? 3-12 months is normal. Less may be precarious. 12+ months may be over-cautious (or if very high, may represent the value of the charity's property).
