British Institute of Human Rights, The

In their own words

"The British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) is an independent charity based in London which raises awareness and understanding about the importance of human rights. It works for some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable communities in the UK, seeking to ensure that the principles of equality, dignity and respect are incorporated into practice and policy at all levels of public service."

SIZE OF CHARITY...

What is this?
Small
We only profile the largest charities in England & Wales, and our sizes are relative to the largest and smallest among them. So where we describe a charity as 'Small', it is still much larger than the national average.

HIGHEST SALARY

What is this?
Under £60k
Taken from the vague bandings given in annual reports; note that 'Under £60k' could be £9k or £59k. Nonetheless the number of bars should roughly correlate with the 'Size of charity' bars.

RESERVES WOULD LAST...

What is this?
2 months
If income dried up, how long could work continue? 3-12 months is normal. Less may be precarious. 12+ months may be over-cautious (or if very high, may represent the value of the charity's property).

Mr Confused - I've had a look at BIHR's annual reports for the past two years and it looks like it's the Charity Commission that's got its figures in a muddle and published the same results twice. I've now updated our profile of BIHR to show the most recent figures (for year ending 31st Dec 2007).  You can also read the full annual report on the CC site - the link is in the same box as the income/expenditure.

Hope this helps!

it shows that the income and expenditure for the two most recent years is EXACTLY (to the pound) the same. Is this down to CC incompetence, the BIHR submitting last years results twice, they really were exactly the same, or what? I am not sure if this is something to worry about (e.g. to meet the filing deadline, they had to submit the last one twice) or if it is down to pure human error by some database operator. How can I find out anyway?
