SMOKE CLEARS FOR ASTHMA CHARITY

Formerly the National Asthma Campaign, this is the only dedicated asthma charity. It carries out a broad portoflio of work - from lobbying against smoking and encouraging kids to play sport, to funding a significant amount of research. Although the annual report doesn't make clear how much the chief exec gets paid, it's nonetheless an informative and generally confidence-inspiring document. Overall income was inflated in 2005/6 because of the sale of a property.
