HELPING THE WORLD'S POOR STAY HEALTHY
This outfit brings healthcare to marginalized communities in 15 of the world's poorest countries. In 2007-08, it helped around 4 million people, immunizing 27,621 children, training 5,271 volunteers, and providing 115,129 mosquito nets. It also lobbied governments on health issues. The transparent annual report answers most of our questions, it would be improved with details of the charity's longer-term plans.

QUALITY OF REPORTING
What is this? |
75 % |
How much info does the charity want to share? This score, taken from our search for 43 key points in the annual report, gives the answer. Top mark is 100%. Anything over 70% is a good effort. |
SIZE OF CHARITY...
What is this? |
Medium |
We only profile the largest charities in England & Wales, and our sizes are relative to the largest and smallest among them. So where we describe a charity as 'Small', it is still much larger than the national average. |
HIGHEST SALARY
What is this? |
Under £60k |
Taken from the vague bandings given in annual reports; note that 'Under £60k' could be £9k or £59k. Nonetheless the number of bars should roughly correlate with the 'Size of charity' bars. |
ETHICAL INVESTMENT POLICY
What is this? |
Unknown |
We asked the charity if it has an ethical investment policy. If yes, it gets an angel. Those with no policy but which don't invest in tobacco/arms get a halo. Those without investments, or who didn't respond, appear neutral. Those with stakes in arms/tobacco get a fallen angel. |
But don't just take our word for it...
Having developed an excellent reputation in project delivery, we have been very successful in securing large grants from the EC and DFID in the recent years. However these grants rarely fully fund projects. As a result of this sudden expansion we are keen to hear from private donors willing to support our work overseas and invest in our organizational growth or provide projects match funding. We hope that Intelligent Giving will help us achieve this.

Health Unlimited is currently raising funds for a maternal and child health project in Sierra Leone. We need to raise £170,000 before mid February for this project and its emergency obstetric care services to run for another year until funds from statutory sources become available in 2009. Sierra Leone is the poorest country in the world and has the highest maternal mortality rate in the world.
