OLD VIC GETS A FACELIFT

In addition to putting on theatre productions, this charity spends a lot of time running educational programmes. In 2006/7, it taught acting and backstage skills to children, and trained schoolteachers. But the theatre has been closed for refurbishment after recent disappointing financial performance - though it is due to open soon. The annual report is refreshingly honest but unfortunately gives little information about the future of the theatre when it reopens.
