BOUYANT CONSERVATIONIST WITH BIG PLANS

One of the country's largest wildlife trusts, this busy outfit looks after almost 1,600 hectares of nature reserves scattered across three counties. Careful investments in membership- and volunteer-recruitment are showing results, and some 4,500 membership subscriptions were secured in 2006/07. The Trust also seems diligent. Its annual report is both informative and interesting. Fundraising costs are admittedly quite high, but they form part of the long-term investment in recruiting new members.
