HELPING PEOPLE OF ALL FAITHS

Despite being religious in name, this international-aid giant helps all people, regardless of faith, by working with partner organizations to provide disaster relief and development programmes in 49 countries worldwide. It also lobbies government on development issues and, in 2007-08, organized a campaign highlighting the effects of climate change on poor people. An excellent annual report makes interesting reading, and points to a charity committed to being transparent and accountable. It's also a huge improvement on last year's effort.

Our annual report clearly states our achievements for 2006/07, plus our long-term objectives. However, we see our corporate website as the main way to report in depth on our achievements – one of which was the ‘top performer’ status given to us in the 2007 Global Accountability Report. Our annual report sets out our key aims: securing livelihoods, economic justice, accountable governance, HIV care and prevention, and campaigning to challenge the root causes of poverty. It gives strong examples of positive outcomes on each.
