HELPLINE IN FINAL YEAR OF INDEPENDENCE

Now merged with Macmillan Cancer Support, this outfit used its last full year of independence to offer advice to cancer sufferers across the country, via its website, publications, professional helplines and local centres which provided face-to-face information and support. Its annual report provides a detailed description of performance targets, giving the sense of a charity serious about measuring the impact of its work. But financial commentary is sorely lacking.
